These are the first steps for my Craft & Communication final. The direction is to create content themed around NYC & then to publish this content in some digital format (web, app, etc). My tentative direction so far is to capture the interaction of people with an environment or object 12 hours apart. I’ll take a photo in one location, and then return 12 hours later to take a photo in the same place again. Hopefully showing contrasts to how a space and people change over time. Adding an extra layer of complexity, I’m using my TLR camera (Rolleiflex).
I had an interesting conversation with Ben (a second-year) as I was doing some test shots out in the street in front of the building. Like many, he was unfamiliar with TLRs, and as I explained my camera and my convaluted flash setup, we realized how much of the process is involved with creating the content. He made a suggestion of bringing the work back into the public spaces that I will be exploring. I was thinking of doing this by leaving a QR code in place to link back to work.
I really need to sit down and write out this brief, but I am very excited to start! I think many of the pieces are here, I just need to flesh them out more.
